In the Canaan slum, in the north of the metropolitan area, a system of local governance has been developed between 2010 and 2014. It was based almost exclusively on the individual and collective resilience of the population residing there. This article highlights the existence, from 2015 to 2018, of a new internationalized governance scheme that reinvests the inhabitants of Canaan with political citizenship through the formalization of the first Canaanite governance regime. This new scheme demonstrates an organizational dysfunction of the state apparatus that favours a deterritorialization of decision-making. The decision-making process has thus led to the community approach being seen as a form of local governance that can be implemented in other informal enclaves.

Le centre historique d’El Kala, une ressource à valoriser dans une perspective de développement touristique local

Hayet Mebirouk
The aim of this study is to analyze the rich heritage and urban fabric of the town of El Kala with a view to developing a tourism investment policy. Declared a tourist destination for its natural and historical wealth, the town of El Kala in north-east Algeria offers visitors a wide range of tourist possibilities: from the sea to the natural landscape, not forgetting the historic center that forms the town’s collective memory. Located in the lower part of the city, the historic center is experiencing a deterioration in its built environment and is lacking in terms of tourist facilities, delaying the development of a tourism industry. The aim of this paper is therefore to identify the heritage and urban characteristics of the historical center, using a qualitative, systemic approach to analyze the role of the various components of the urban fabric in promoting the area and developing tourism. At the end of this analysis, we’ll be able to identify what’s at stake to improve tourism appeal.

Critique argumentée de la stratégie de la ville de Lausanne au regard des objectifs de végétalisation, de renaturation et de transformation écologique de l’espace urbain

Fabien Jakob
Focusing on the revision of the city of Lausanne’s master and allocation plans, this paper falls within the field of political sociology of public problems. It aims to grasp and restore the ways in which the public authorities are involved in the planning and urban fabric — elected representatives, urban planners and designers, architects, engineers and landscapers — whether at the stage of diagnosing territorial resources, mobilizing a variety of vegetations more or less anthropized, artificialized and artialized, identifying local socioecological issues brought about by climate change.

Pratique du sport chez les adolescents et les jeunes adultes à Ouagadougou

Alice Bougnan Drabo, Vincent Zoma and Georges Compaore
The practice of sport in large African cities, faced with the challenges of rapid urbanisation, is marked by numerous constraints. The aim of this study is to analyse the factors influencing the sport activities in certain urban subareas of the city of Ouagadougou. The methodology adopted is based on a combination of quantitative, qualitative, spatial and documentary approaches. The results reveal signifi cant variations in sports participation based on sociodemographic characteristics, in particular place of residence and access to the infrastructures. Significant disparities between housing areas and gender were observed. Individual, socio-economic and environmental factors infl uence this practice, their impact varying according to the residential context. Political, cultural and infrastructural barriers also limit sporting involvement. Ultimately, this research highlights the complexity of the urban sports landscape in Ouagadougou while underlining the importance of environmental conditions in promoting young people’s participation in physical activity and sport.

PICHÉ, Victor, LE BOURDAIS, Céline, MARCOUX, Richard et OUELLETTE, Nadine (2022) L’éclairage de la démographie.
